The stupidest game EVER!

So first off, Thanks mom for sending me the pile of games!

And so you all know I asked for some of them from her pile 'for the goodwill' or wherever she donates to, so I did specifically ask her to send me 'the game with magnets'.

I had no idea I was asking for the worlds stupidest game!

At first glance it aught to be cool; you get magnets, and a big cloth mat with a bulls eye in it.  Surely someone found an interesting way to play a game with magnets.  (our version came in a storage bag, no box)

Nope.

You lay 5 magnets for each side down flat on the mat, then you take turns trying to balance another of your color  on its 'sorta' side.

Still doesn't sound too dumb.

Until you read the rule that if you mess up because a cat jumps on the board you lose those pieces.

Umm excuse me?  I am supposed to encourage my cat to jump on the board to mess the other guy up?  Not that we own a cat, we have toddlers though and they are about as bad, generally shed less.

OK so it doesn't say to encourage the cat, but still.  Give my son an easy out and I assure you he will take it to win.  Our general rule is if a 2 year old messes up the board you do your best to fix it as it was.  Something that would be next to impossible with this game.

Now I have nothing against a game that seems essentially designed to teach the players to be incredibly careful and never bump the board, but.... I am as much a klutz as the rest of the kids.  And I can totally see my kid (or husband or self) 'accidentally' bumping the table to knock an opponents piece over, I just don't see this game as being worth any amount of time.

Though really I do appreciate my mother sending it to me, very sorry about the wasted postage.  The magnets are strong enough we might find another use for them, or we might give the game to some quiet folk who never bounce...if I find any.
