Maybe we should have done Ecclesiastical...

Since we are using a formal program this ear for Latin, I had to make a choice.  Classical or Ecclesiastical. I really wasn't thinking it made much difference, I guess I though Ecclesiastical would be more the Catholic way. I hear they still do some services in Latin.

We are not catholic, so I figured Classical was the way to go.  We started the movie lesson with classical, and we listened to the Latin chants that way.

First thing I noticed was that 'V' is pronounced the way a 'W' would be.  'C's and 'G's are always hard (sofar). ('i's tend to make a 'EE' sound)

Seems like a pretty easy thing to keep track of.

Until you hear 'Weni, Widi, Weki'....Most folk have heard "Veni, Vidi, Vici"  I find it very hard to read that in the classical pronunciation.  It just sounds wrong.

Unfortunately the kids without my 20some years of hearing Latin are perfectly happy with classical pronunciation.  I don't know if I want to force a change or leave it alone.
