Dude is a level 5 Barbarian!

I recently found ChoreWars, I think I followed a link from all things beautiful.

I was pretty sure Dude would enjoy it and I was right, in just a few days he has racked up enough xp to be a level 5 barbarian:

Dude, my Chore Wars character

Not sure if that will character badge will work.

Anyway, the basic concept of Chorewars is to turn real life jobs into a facebook app style game.

The DM (dungeon master, or admin) creates adventurers.  Items could be anything you like such as 'attending to the dishwasher', or 'tidying the bedroom', or 'completing a math sheet'.

The have a group of about 15 chores set up you can automatically use (common household tasks) and a fairly easy interface to make up new ones.  Each adventure has a set amount of XP earned, as well as a chance of gold, items or monsters.

There is no real use of the items or gold in game, and the monsters have no actual effect on the game play.  Regardless, my sons love them.  They are super excited to find out they encountered a 'Soap Elemental', or the 'Sock Monster'.  It is a tense couple of minutes while we click through to find out who dodged, who cast a spell, and who is defeated.

Little Man does enjoy the game, but he is still a bit short to do most of the adventures.  Princess doesn't want to admit she likes it, though the cool purple outfit her character gets is a bonus.

Of course I put in some of my chores, like feeding the baby, and changing diapers.  The kids were a bit surprised to discover Mommy leveled up so fast  (actually I think Daddy was surprised too...)  I don't even put in all my chores.  I put in all the first day to show the kids just how much of my time is taken up by baby work, then after that I just put in a few each day to keep myself a higher level than the kids.

There are a few interface changes I would love to see, but since I am not paying for it, I wont complain.  They do have a rather interesting suggestion submission forum.  You can vote on ideas you think are cool, and comment on other folks ideas!  I think it is a really cool way to see who all is asking for the same upgrades.
