Borcht, Blini, and Stroganoff

While researching Russia, we found a cookbook, and thought we should give some things a try.

Borcht was out, I am not adventurous enough and too lazy to put effort into cooking something I tend not to like (beets). Though I have to say it does look pretty. If someone who likes it cooks I would try it though.

This is not the recipe we used for Blini but it is close. Of course you know we only used whole wheat flour. The end result was a perfectly adequate flat pancake, that took way longer to cook than I would like. BTW I love the line: "Think 'One Blin, Many Blini." of course we topped ours with fruit not caviar!

There are about enough recopies for stroganoff to sink a ship, and besides it is a dish I make often, so we ignored the recipes and discussed what it may or may not be named for Wiki on the subject or you could check out a thousand and one opinions from varied sources here

Either way dinner should be good!
