What a difference a year makes!

My two oldest both began piano lessons about 1.5 years ago.

Dude took to it like a duck to water, he loved playing, and he did rather well.  He isn't a Mozart or anything, but he certainly improves, practices willingly and enjoys the piano.

Princess, while she liked piano, had NO rhythm!  She couldn't keep a steady beat, and that really effected her playing ability.

Dude continued playing, has progressed nicely - though I have nothing to compare him to, I think he does well.

Princess quit after a few short months.  She just wasn't getting better and din't enjoy the fun.
At first I tried a few tricks to encourage her to stick with it.  Eventually I decided it wasn't worth a battle and let her alone.

Then a few months back Princess claimed she wanted to start up again.  I suggested she get in the habit of practicing every day.  For several weeks she did, without being told.  Finally this month I helped her by listening to her play, making suggestions and encouraging her to move on to harder songs.

It is amazing what a difference one year has made.  She actually has rhythm - not perfect, but in general she can play with a steady beat.

Of course now that Princess gets lessons, Little Man and Baby Girl want some (well so does Little One, but she just wants her hands on anything!)

The younger ones have no rhythm, but it is encouraging to note, if Princess could pick it up, They prolly will sooner or later.
