Lessons in wasting time

If you are going to spend some time...doing nothing important.....

At least take a lesson from kids.  Make it educational.

Not that children tell us they are working on educational subjects, just that if you watch a kid with no TV, pretty soon it becomes apparent their brain is working.

The past two days have been blissfully unscheduled.  Over the course of 48 hours I watched my children:
-Create scenery, plan lines, and perform a Harry Potty world play.  (including special effects-drama)
-Design and create an elaborate game with all sorts of paper odds and ends (math)
-Draw an entire fashion line (OK only Princess did this -art)
-Program an Alice story to go along with their Spanish (computers, logic, Spanish)
-Beat all 50 levels of Bloons Tower Defense
-Sing multiple songs they made up together  (music, teamwork)
-Read a book on WWII (Dude)
-Invent new songs on the keyboard. (music)
-Cook their own lunches (home EC)
-Debate the age of the world with each other (history? Geology?)
-Invent a game to make cleaning their rooms better (I said mostly unscheduled right?)
-Draw, draw, and draw some more. (Princess again)
-Play with water outside (PE)
-Spent time in the creek (Nature study, earth science)

And through all that, do you know what I wanted to do with my free time?
Watch a stupid TV show. (and surf the internet)

Ugh, I need to pick up a time waster that isn't so brain damaging!

How about Bloons 3?
