Girls and boys excellence

This week from the library we borrowed "The Girl's Book of Excellence"  and "The Boy's Book of Greatness".

Each book as short simple instructions on skills and tips such as "How to be the best cheerleader"  or "How to make perfect popcorn".

Some are VERY gender biased "How to look beautiful tomorrow", which is actually skin care tips.  And of course sticking "How to pitch a tent' in the boys book and not the girls is a bit biased.  Others are just good kid fun "April fools meal" or "Bottomless cup trick".

Having "How to catch a wave in the boys book, and only "How to pretend to be a surfer" in the girls bothers me a bit, but over all I found the books full of short easy advice on plenty of good topics, including yoga, healthy eating, and crafty type fun.

Some folk might object to "How to interpret your dreams".  It basically covers items like 'garden -you are relaxed" or 'Falling - you are worried".  While I put no stock in dreams myself, there wasn't any mysticism so I'm not to bothered by it.

Princess has been reading the girl version for three days now.  Doing yoga, making smoothies and making pompoms.
