Too many cooks!

Dude was having trouble with solving 'inverse proportions'.  I know what those words mean, but I couldn't come up with a math problem related to them off the top of my head.

Anyway I sat down to look at the work, seemed fairly straight forward hours traveled mph given, then if you have a new trip time, what is the new mph.  I can think of several ways to solve that one.  We did it a couple ways then he was off to try a new problem of the same type.

The next problem was Amperes and Ohms, which I know nothing about.  Daddy took a turn to explain.

Then it headed into 'Pkg's something about Pressure and Liters.  While I know what pressure and Liters are, I really don't understand the relationship between the two well have a formula handy.  So we checked the Aleks.com explanation.

By this time I am wondering why a program that is supposed to run through one and only one problem type before lighting up a section of the pie has given us three different problem types in one sitting!

By now Dude was  quite frustrated (and quite certain the program was completely making things up without rules), I was frustrated (and quite certain Daddy was leading him wrong)  Daddy was frustrated (and quite certain I was leading him wrong).

I left to go deal with Princess' daily grams (she forgot her address).  Dude stopped trusting the Aleks explanation to make any sense, and Daddy figured out the constant 'formula' between all three problems.  Dude was able to follow it to answer 5 quick problems in a row and get the next pie checked off.

I don't know if Dude really understand what was needed to solve the 'inverse proportion' problems, but I do know 'too many cooks spoil the algebra'!
