Is it really the end of the week already?

Where did my time go?  I think I just wrote about a week, maybe yesterday?

In our homeschool this week:
Apparently a time warp!  I guess we did co-op and scouts, and had company for dinner, 4H, a play, and there was the math...plus plenty of chores/diapers/education.  That about covers it!  The Aleks math is new, The amazing typing revolution is new, the rest is routine.

Places we're going, People we're seeing
Little Man made it to a 'How I became a Pirate' at Imaginon.  Wonderful friends payed for tickets for a lot of plays this year, they are so generous.  We are very blessed to have them in our life (for more than just the free tickets!)

Baby Girl is getting quite sad about everyone having time to go somewhere with Daddy while she has to stay home, so today she is going to the nature center with Daddy, just the two of them.  It is hard to be so little, too little for scouts, 4H, plays, and not much help at the grocery store.  We might have to plan this sort of thing monthly till she is a bit older and has her one places to go.

My favorite thing this week.
You might think this is terrible, but my favorite thing is actually watching my husband clean the whole kitchen by himself.  No one asked him to, no one told him to.  I just was sulking with a headache and the kids were off doing school like things so he cleaned it himself.  It really is a wonderful thing to greet a clean room - that you didn't have to clean yourself.

What's working/Not working this week.
Me, I am not working this week.  I have had a headache every day, and I really have not been working.  To compound the problem, I have been turning to tons of chocolate and a pepsi a day with my misery.  So not a good way to make anything better!   Which makes for one cranky household.  That old line is really true, "If Momma ain't happy, nobody is happy!"

I hear-by vow to go to sleep on time, drink a glass of water (or 5), and eat more than peanut butter.

Hold on a minute....

OK I am back with a very tall glass of water!

Homeschool thoughts/questions
We need a week off.  Next week will officially be a slow week, of just the 4 R's.  And some cleaning, somehow I have to get that 2.8 list done!

A 'thing' to share
OOH I love that it is now anything, since I really never have photos anymore.  But now I have the perfectionist in me worrying.  What should I share, will it be worth it?  What if you all think it is stupid?  I have to find the perfect thing!  sigh, some days I wish I could put some ducktape over her mouth (in my brain, right...)

Ok after 30 minutes of web browsing, how about I share the best article of the day?
'Just do the math'  love this part:
"“Because everyone knows,” he replied, verbally stomping on Greenberg's ego, “that the subject matter itself isn't all that hard. What's hard, virtually impossible, is beating it into the heads of youngsters who hate every step. The only we way we have a ghost of a chance is to hammer away at the stuff bit by bit everyday for years. Even then it does not work.” (Honesty is refreshing, isn't it?) “Most of the sixth graders are mathematical illiterates. Give me a kid who wants to learn the stuff - well, 20 hours or so makes sense.”"

So how come I still insist on math every day?  Because the habits I feel are 'use it or lose it'...so when the kids are in a great mood for math we make leaps and giant steps forward, and when they aren't eh we review.  I also use all kinds of powers of persuasion to make sure it is still fun (including switching programs if needed!)

  1. I'm sorry about your headachy week. I understand, as I have had some afternoons when I've had to go lie down with a headache. That is great that your husband cleaned the kitchen--that would cheer me up, too!
