Queen's Alphabet

I never actually go to the library myself, my husband takes a kid or two most weeks.  So I request books, and 'browse' online.  I am so glad our library system has such a fancy search engine that makes it very easy to browse.

I was searching for an Alphabet book to continue working with Baby Girl on Alphabetical order and of course enunciating words.  (we can now say most simple S words!)

I found "The Queen's Progress" by Celest Mennis, just happens to be both a simple Alphabet book "F is for Feast that ends with a start.  A bevy of Black birds flies out of a tart"

And has a little more info about Queen Elizabeth on each page.  Princess particularly enjoyed reading tidbits about maids, and what the Queen ate.

I read the short letter snippets to Baby Girl one day, and had Princess read the whole thing to me another night.  There were plenty of words to work on like 'intrigue' or 'strife'.  Which was wonderful.  I love introducing new words in fun context.

  1. Interesting alphabet book. I wouldn't think to do one about Queen Elizabeth.

  2. The title of your post made me think about the move King's Speech :) This alphabet book sounds pretty interesting - thanks for joining WMCIR!
