Oh this is really frustrating. Our library recently cut down from 20 holds to only 10. This means between the 5 readers in the house (Daddy doesn't count, he only reads online.) We can only request 20 books total (two cards currently)
I am going crazy here! Each week I try to request:
Counting and Alphabet for Baby Girl
Dinosaurs for Little Man
History type book and science type for Princess and Dude
Plus some poetry, maybe a little math, some grammar or writing, some art maybe music.
Plus at least one book that each has requested (Dude wants the last Percy Jackson, Princess a Nancy Drew book, and Little Man likes many 'easy reader')
Which between the long wait time on some of the more popular books (number 15 on request for the Last Olympian!) and the lack of time to visit the library (10 books waiting for pick up as of now) I have no room for new books!
We filled out the form for Princess to get her card, but I really wish I could just request all the books on one card, easier to see what I already requested, and easier to know when they are ready to be picked up. I think when we go back next week we will get one for Little Man as well.
I understand library services are expensive, but of all the tax money to cut back on, I can found a thousand things less useful than the library. And a few less classes on scrapbooking, a few more on letting me request books would be nice.
I wonder if they'd make an exception for home schoolers if enough people asked.
