Quality pencils!

Recently my husband figured out how to do one of those fancy deals at an office supply store.  The kind where you buy something use a coupon and get your money spent back in some kind of reward bucks.

This particular deal required spending a certain amount, so in order to achieve it my husband picked up a pack of fancy pencils.  The end result was still a great deal for an item we needed and some reward bucks on their way, plus pencils thrown in the mix for fun.

We usually end up with the cheap pencils that crack and break when you try to sharpen them.  The coating of them peels and soon you have a white stub with a long crack in the side.  Half the time the kids have to make sure the pencil is turned right before they can use it, because the lead is only out on one side as it sharpens unevenly.

Then of course  you usually get an eraser that is too stiff to do any good, (the rest of the time the eraser was used up long before the pencil)

We are now the proud owner of half a dozen 'Dixon, Tri-Conderoga' pencils.  It is truly a joy to hold, write with and sharpen them.   They are triangular shaped and soft.  They are coated in some kind of interesting material that makes them comfortable to grip.   I am not an artist, but I can see how drawing with one of these would be awesome.  The pack we bought has a sharpener that was included, which does a great job.

I wont be giving up my keyboard anytime soon, but for working with kids, I am quite happy to be able to show them how words are spelled, which way a P goes, or guide an algebra problem with the fancy 'Tri' pencils.

Children do lose pencils easily so I can quickly see us going from half a dozen to the one I have reserved on my desk.  I have hope though of using them as long as possible.

BTW they didn't pay me to write this (ha, like anyone would), I just felt like babbling about the lovely pencil I got to use this morning.  I figured I aught to mention this since real bloggers do occasionally get paid to talk about products
