You know one of the greatest things about home education is that you can turn anything into a 'lesson' without trying.
For example starting Monday our new project list will include '5 gifts made' by each kid.
Yep, while public school kids have to finagle time in between busing to and fro school, I have it right there on my 'lesson plan'
What exact gifts they make is rather up to them.
They might sit down one day and work on clay ornaments for 10 folk all at once, or they might take multiple sessions to carve some soap. I really don't mind, but at 5 in two weeks each, they will cover just about the whole Christmas list.
Of course I haven't given up on my 4R's I really do find that keeping up with basic 'Reading, wRighting, and aRithmetic, and peRsonal care' really makes life easier all around. A little each day is all it takes.
Then there is a smidgen of 'extras' the kids find all that stuff fun.
This time I added in working on the Christmas story, I would like the older kids to work on more from the Bible, they younger ones will continue the Advent book we have done every year, we always read the story starting Dec 1st. The kids start to know the lines so well they all fill in the blanks. I figure if we work on the story from the bible starting in Nov, by Dec they will see how the Advent book is really from the 'original'.
Now here's hoping Dude can actually get it all done! (He finished the other project list on the Monday after it was all due, so not to far behind)
