Root Dearly for a Hairy Mink, WMCIR Oct 9th, 2010

This weeks post is being auto loaded while I am AFK (driving up the coast).  If I get the chance to get online I will link it up, if not, I am still glad I had the reminder to take a peek at what my kids are reading.

Back when my oldest was a wee one just learning to read we received a set of 4 books from Brian P Cleary.  "A Mink, A Fink, A Skating Rink, What is a Noun?", "To Root, To Toot, To Parachute, What is a Verb?", "Hairy Scary, Ordinary, What is an Adjective?", and " Dearly Nearly, Insincerely, What is an Adverb?".

I loved the silly rhyming storyline, I loved the simple repetitive definition along with plenty of examples.
This week we pulled out the Adjective one again for Little Man, while he basically knows what an adjective is, he has trouble thinking up any.  I remember being a kid trying Mad Libs and feeling quite stuck always using colors or size.  There are so many more wonderful adjectives out there.

We also pulled out the Adverb one for Dude to review, for some reason while verbs, nouns and adjectives are rather easy to remember, all the kids have trouble with adverbs. Little Man upon seeing it decided he should read it too (because as he said "I am already good with verbs and nouns" well yes you are dear, read away.)

While peeking at Amazon for the book links and photos I discovered he wrote others on Pronouns and such.  So of course I headed off to the library to reserve one or two.

Oh, no photos, I refuse to download anything further till we update some more protections on here.  Someone doesn't want to spend any more nights cleaning up my computer.
