Painting flowers

I borrowed a very interesting book from the library for a closer look at flowers.  "Flowers, a first discovery book".  Since we can't look at too many flowers books with illustrations of the cutaway portion of flowers are very cool.  (very short book, and not worth the new price, but good from a library)

How to paint flower vid -purple, not sure type.  Long, but enthralled my kids who then wanted to paint:

OK make that Princess, and Little Man wanted to paint, Dude basically just wanted to be done.

You can barely tell but way over in the  left corner he had a flower, then he continued painting. and it started to get mixed in.  I once read that 'the secret to a good art teacher is knowing when to take the painting away.'  I guess I need work on that one.

Princess is the Artist in the family, not perfect, but testing ideas out, actually looking at the flower and improving each time she picks up a brush.

The purple blob is her attempt at following the above tutorial.  I think we have the wrong kind of paint.  The orange ish flower in the middle is her attempt at a lili like the ones we have in the front.  And not sure where the inspiration for the other two came from.

After the flowers, Princess wasn't done

I don't think she stopped till she ran out of paper.

And we aren't either, we will keep looking at flowers and learning about them.
