feathery? spiky? smooth? pointed? rounded? 'branched? Do the veins come out opposite each other, or offset? Are the leaves always in a certain 'set? (like paired, or 'leaves of three')
Drawing something means really looking at it. Not that you can see the results in the art yet.
We first borrowed a book from the library: "How to draw 50 flowers plants and trees" I found the illustrations very hard to follow. It was difficult to tell what the odd scribbles were supposed to make, and very hard to see which part was 'new' in each step. The strawberry is from Princess trying anyway.
Then we checked out this website: "TLC how to draw flowers" while some flowers looked quite intimidating to me, others looked doable. Princess and Little Man wanted to try the rose.. Dude wanted a cactus flower instead.
I know a true naturalist would have us draw straight from the real flowers, but.....a true nature lover must have better art skills than we do! That and better access to flowers, you saw how few are in our yard!

Ah one more photo. Baby Gil decided to get into the drawing this time, with something more than just scribbles. Though still mostly scribbles
