I went over the the 'kids and curriculum' page and updated some info.
Not that much changed, I just happened to be awake at a silly hour of the morning thanks to my Little One, and of course playing with my blog is far more fun than say dishes, or laundry!
One thing I noticed, is how plain my history and science look. I don't have a fancy program to point out and say 'look how cool we are'. Or even 'look I promise we cover it all'.
Actually I don't promise to cover it all, but we do cover a LOT of information. I am learning some interesting history, and the kids amaze me with how much they know. Science is a tricky subject. They say you have to cover magnets in 4th grade, but really how much more is there to know unless you work on electrical magnets, or run a car on magnets? The kids have the basics, more than that should be up to their interests.
I have decided to get a little more in depth into biology this year. Some cell structure, and such like. Still planning on following their own interests at the library, but I also want to pull out the microscope and check out different types of cells, maybe learn a little about how the body does all the amazing things it does. At the very least I hope to balance out all the history books the kids borrow from the library with at least one science book a week.
