Thank goodness, one less book to feel like I ought to be reading every day. Bitter sweet though, we loved that book. short sweet chapters, plenty of humor, and a history lesson just to understand the analogies. It was published just after WWI during prohibition.
The final chapter discusses maybe humans are just too young and that is why we fight all the time! It is done in a hopeful manner, sad to say we were right back at that world war thing all too soon.
Of course the short paragraph on how we will one day laugh that folk drank poison for pleasure was cause for laughter and discussion in and of itself!
Humans have always sought ways to 'hide from the world'. Drink, smoke, inject, or just stare blankly a screen. We seem hardwired to seek escape. Prolly not all bad, but we do need to be conscious of our innate habit.
I so wanted to toast to the author of such a wonderful little history, but still nursing Little One. Next month.
Child's History of the World by V.M. Hillyer
We own this book, and we will be reading it again when Baby Girl is more ready to learn.
