I need a functioning husband!

My wonderful amazing husband has been sick this week.  This means I had to hitch a ride to scouts on Tuesday, beg for some help on Wednesday.  And we still haven't been tot he grocery store or the library. (I don't drive)

I essentially left my oldest to babysit.  Now he is a good kid, but that is asking a lot of an 8 year old goofy boy.  Maybe if he was naturally responsible, or if I was better at making him be responsible?  He did do pretty well, he got the two younger ones snack (I took the baby and Princess with me)  and set up a movie to watch.  Plus he kept encouraging Baby Girl to leave Daddy alone (Daddy was laid out in bed).  Plus he managed to convince everyone to brush teeth.  (they were already in PJs)

But when I got home there were broken ornaments (and how does that happen?)  Toys all over the floor.  remains of snack in the kitchen.  And all three of them still wide awake and bouncy.  I was so hoping for them to be settled and reading books for bed.  (not to mention hoping for a cleanish house)

So that was frustrating, but they all managed (and Dude might have a better understanding of all the work I do to keep the house clean)

Missing the grocery store is only a minor inconvenience, I do need vanilla for baking, but I might be able to manage.  We only tend to go once a week anyway (one week is up today)

The library on the other hand?  That is the end of the world!  Not only have we missed on several holds that were waiting for us, we have no new books in the house!  I need my books man.

Fortunately he is now up and managing to help around the house.  Today the kids have to stay home from caroling in the nursing home, because we don't want the elderly residents to pick up his cold.  (or whatever it is, very red throat)

So the question is...can he go to the library?

  1. I'm so sorry he's sick. Wish I was closer to help.
