Baby Girl really wants to join the fun, so I made a simple book with a couple basic three letter words.
Last night we got it back out and she read the word 'Cat'! ok she said '/k/, /a/, /t/.../tat/' yeah I know that isn't right, but really she does call a cat a 'tat'. Guess it is a good start.
Daddy has been reading simple bedtime books with her. Every page or so he picks out a three letter word to practice blending on. Apparently it is finally sinking in.
I think I need to make time to have the older two read to me, they still tend to pronounce words like 'education' wrong (E duck shun). They get so impatient reading outloud, mainly because they can read so fast and if the story is any good they want to get into it. But if I pick a boring book they don't want to read it because it is boring, or babyish.
Ah well something to work in.
I know what you mean my 7 year old is willing to read out loud but prefers to do it if he has already read the story so he knows what happened! He comes up with some interesting pronunciations as well, especially now that he is reading the Hobbit!!
