So my original plan was to do one week of 'stuff' in two weeks of time for the holiday season. Then I changed both the amount of stuff we wanted to do, and the time.
Mostly because Christmas is way closer than I was thinking, and I need to focus on a clean house, decorated, and lots of Christmas activities. Also, I wanted to. We get to do that.
There is certainly a line between doing nothing on the 'todo' list, and rushing around like a fool doing too much. Homeschooling is all about finding the balance between ... well between everything. Between unschooling and overschooling, between relaxed free time, and fully structured time. The balance between learning about academic or theoretical information, and learning how to make gingerbread houses (or clean real ones). There is even a line between making todo lists and getting them done!
The balance is certainly not the same for all families, and it often isn't easy to find. But it is in there, and it is what we are aiming for this year.
The flexibility is one of the things I am most thankful for in homeschooling. Not only the flexibility to learn our own way, but the option to skip it for a time. The option to put it off, come back when we want, or even do a half week (or one third week) whenever we feel like it.
Now off to go make a todo list, and maybe something yummy.
I know what you mean, I just checked my calendar and am reeling in shock!! I better get busy cause so far the elves are not showing up!!
