A vacation, with no real education

This past weekend was a first for us.  We went to PA for a wedding, without visiting any one of the many (many) amazing educational spots.  No zoo, no science center, no park, no farm, nothing.

So 4 days without a real learning experience.  I wonder if they managed to learn anything.

Dude watched a few episodes of 'Mythbusters', a rare treat in our TV-less family.  (computer yes, TV no)  I can imagine he gleaned something about ballistics, tempering metal, and explosives.

Princess watched "Who's the Boss", along with 'Little House on the Prairie'.  A bit of history I guess.  (and now she knows what an accordion is, not sure if that is a good thing or bad)  We started 'The wrath of Kahn' - not quite so historic.

Stopped the TV marathon for a quick game of 'Don't break the Ice' - is that a physics or engineering lesson?
How about ants in the pants?  Flipping those ants has to be a lesson in something about equal and opposite reactions.  It certainly is a lesson in fairness (Baby girls can't win, so just flip your own and take pride in your accomplishments, without taking away from hers).  Of course we had to discuss odds while playing cooties, you need 6 legs, yet you have only a 1 in 6 chance to roll the required 6.  (and again, let Baby girl build a cootie on her own please)

They all had a  discussion with their Grandpa on inflation and economics.  Plus a bit of history from their great grandparents on my side.

There was a birthday as well as a wedding, so they all got a little spelling and writing practice (how do you spell congratulations?)

Teriyaki was looked up (Tari the sweet glossy part, Yaki the grilling or broiling).  -Thanks Dad!

A few Latin verbs were conjugated, nouns declined, the roots of Polish not being Latin was discussed. (well what family is it in?)

"Alice in Wonderland" and it's sequel listened to, along with a few other books (That is one weird book!). A short study of geography, in answer to 'Are we stuck in West Virginia?' from Little Man.  (we have to drive through the thickest part of WV to get to PA).

And to top it all off a quick discussion on the variety of wedding traditions.

Eh, they might have learned something.  Regardless we had a great time.
