Little Man's projects

Little Man has done quite a few simple writing projects, including a description of his favorite season. Just for reference, Little Man is almost 5.

Summer
Because I get to go swimming. And because it is hot.

I think it is cute.  He also wrote a Mad Lib, which I can't find.  He told me the story of Noah and the flood, and then we went back and chose nouns or verbs to take out of each sentence.  I wish I could find it as it was really cute.

We ordered a new math book for him off the wonderful store known as 'Nana'  (my mother).  Little Man was so excited when it came.  He jumped in and did a page right away, even though we really needed to get out the door.

He is now up to lesson 7 and keeps exclaiming 'this is so easy'.  And for him it is, though he still writes his 2's and 5's wrong half the time.

I have been trying to do some simple subtraction and comparison games with him during free time, and it may be helping.  He seemed to find the 'how many less' problems easy.  Though they all had pictures still.

This morning Little man came in telling me about "Sad lights'.  They hang up high in the sky and sometimes you can't see them but they are there.  Apparently these 'Sad Lights' help us every day.  They take pictures and help us make phone calls.

I was rather confused, but I looked at the book he was holding "Rockets and Spaceships" a DK level 1 reader.  Suddenly a happy light went off in my head.  'Satellite'!

And this is why I do not like most easy readers.  The call 'rockets', 'astronaut' and 'engine' level one words!  (not to mention 'satellite').

It sure is cute to hear him read.  Sometimes I think back on his first few attempts, and I am amazed at how quickly he has learned.

I linked this up with
and it took me this long to put the cute button in...(not a technically problem, a 'had to run out for scouts' problem
