Claude Monet

"No one is an artist unless he carries his picture in his head before painting it and is sure of his method and composition." - Monet

Bio for kids webpage - includes links to workheets and crosswords and more

We have been studying Monet on and off for awhile now.  Partly because he popped up on AO, and partly because I like his work.  One of the few painters I would consider paying for.

We printed a couple coloring pages, a different one for each of the older kids, and they colored them.  Not all according to Monet's plan, but an interesting study in how he put his paintings together.

Here is the list of AO recommended works, along with the three coloring pages I found that were similar.

Terrace at St. Adresse  - coloring page version

Women in garden

Jean Monet on his hobby horse

Woman with a parasol: Madame Monet and her son - coloring without son

Tulip fields in Holland

The Waterlily pond - close up of lilies coloring

And here  is their version:

As you can see, Dude is rather uninterested in coloring....

Will post more if we get to any of the other fun projects I had in mind.
