I went to google to look something up this morning, and found out it is Antonio Lucio Vivaldi's birthday! I love google filling me in on interesting tidbits! (like his middle name)
I peeked at Wiki to share a few facts with the kids. The most interesting point I saw was " While Vivaldi certainly composed many operas in his time, he never reached the prominence of other great composers like Alessandro Scarlatti, Leonardo Leo, and Baldassare Galuppi,.."
umm who? I think Vivaldi has those fellows beat by a mile, even average folk know who he is! (I am willing to bet none of those other guys has a day on google either!) Though opera goers may know the others better.
I think the first time I recall hearing Vivaldi was Disney's Fantasia (the old one, I hear they redid it.)
